A blistering 6 under par 65 today has elevated Jayden Ford into the lead in the Avondale Medal. The 18 year old from Wellington is playing in his first Avondale Medal and is the man to beat in tomorrow’s final round, sitting 2 shots clear. Ford had an extraordinary 7 birdies in his first 12 holes. Andrew Richards is in 2nd place at 4 under par, one shot ahead of Avondale’s Jye Pickin and Jackson Rogan (Bonnie Doon).
Highlights from the men’s field today included eagles on the first hole for Luke Ferrier (Merewether) and Harry Goakes (Royal Melbourne). Drew Herbert (Sanctuary Cove) holed his second shot on 18 for Eagle. Blade Gadd (Penrith), Jye Pickin and Connor Fewkes (Goldfields) eagled the 9th hole today, whilst Jye Halls (NSW GC) eagled the 14th hole.
Kirsten Rudgeley has moved into the lead in the Avondale Bowl, after a tidy round of 1 under par today. Shyla Singh (Southport) sits in second place at one shot back, and Justice Bosio (Caboolture) is a further shot back in 3rd place. Overnight leader Jeneath Wong struggled today, carding a 5 over par 77, to put her in 4th place.
Avondale’s Robyn Keen continues to enjoy her tournament, holding onto a top 20 position.
The Final Round starts tomorrow at 7.00am.
